Ewer with Wild Roses Small
This is a classic ewer shape based on an historical Greek form. It is also a signature shape of mine as I have been making it for over 25 years, but this is a wee one. Made of porcelain clay. I threw this piece in two sections as a vase shape then joined them when they were still wet. That is when I cut the neck in to the spout shape, added the handle and decorated the surface by carving it with my wild rose pattern, the classic ice crackle glaze gives a depth to the surface and a shade of turquoise in the carving that make this truly one of a kind. The metallic rim and foot make this a classic Arabesque Pottery piece. Signed, "Sullivan, Canada" on the foot rim. 7" wide x5.5" deep x 11.5" Tall. Can be used as a vase but not as a pouring vessel, this is really a work of art!
