Ewer with Wintergreen
This is a classic ewer shape based on an historical Greek form. It is also a signature shape of mine as I have been making it for over 25 years. Made of porcelain clay. I threw this piece in three sections as a vase shape then joined them when they were still wet. That is when I cut the neck in to the spout shape, added the handle and decorated the surface by carving it with a leaf motif I call "wintergreen", the classic ice crackle celadon glaze gives a depth to the surface. The metallic rim and foot make this a classic Arabesque Pottery piece. Signed, "Sullivan, Canada" on the foot rim. 9" wide x7" deep x 15.25" Tall. Can be used as a vase but not as a pouring vessel, this is really a work of art!
