Porcelain Pottery Jar with Multicolour and Gold Butterflies 03

NEW PATTERN. A limited edition series. The butterfly is a symbol for Mother in Asian cultures. 

The Butterfly Effect: we are all connected to a bigger system. This is my positivist take. 

A decorative jar in a classic urn silhouette.  10"tall x 6.5" wide, it holds 88 ounces or 11cups. Suitable as an urn for a pet, a small person, or if you are sharing ashes. This is a beautiful piece.

This is an elegant shape decorated with 22k gold butterlies and NEW full colour butterflies in a painterly style, predominantly blue on this piece.  I made this out of a white porcelain clay body, throwing it on the potters wheel in multilple pieces and joining when the clay is still wet to achieve the articulation of the footed base.  A clear glaze is over the entire piece.

The exterior decoration was achieved totally in a third kiln firing of overglaze gold decals and full colour butterflies decals. The patterns are sealed permanently into the glaze by the firing process.  THE GOLD MAKES THIS NOT MICROWAVE SAFE. Please appreciate the slight variations and imperfections that are the signs of hand made pottery.
