Porcelain Pottery Vase with Black birds and grapes
My newer teardrop shape vase. Heavy bottom.
I made this out of a white porcelain clay body. I threw it on the potter's wheel, trimmed the bottom with a foot ring so the bottom is glazed as well. The exterior decoration is a transfer technique which is a silkscreening technique in black of birds and grapes. The patterns are sealed permanently into the clay by the glazing process. A clear glaze is over the exterior of the piece, a deep olive green on the inside.
Please appreciate the slight variations and imperfections that are the signs of hand made pottery. This pot is approximately 6.75" tall x 3" wide at neck opening. Signed "Sullivan, Canada" on the bottom.
